On Thursday night, Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, and other nearby areas in the National Capital Region (NCR) experienced rainfall, providing much-needed relief from the persistent poor air quality that had affected the region in recent days.
This
downpour coincides with the Delhi government's ongoing efforts to explore the
possibility of "artificial rain" as a means to mitigate pollution
levels. Artificial rain involves cloud seeding, a weather modification
technique that entails the dispersal of substances into the air to stimulate
condensation and precipitation.
Taking
responsibility for the entire cost of implementing artificial rain, the Delhi
government has directed the chief secretary to present the government's stance
before the Supreme Court on Friday. With potential support from the Centre, the
Delhi government aims to facilitate the first instance of artificial rain in
the city by November 20.
